Stanley Nwabali Mourns Parents

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is enduring a profound personal loss as he prepares to lay both of his parents to rest in early June 2025. His father, Chief Godspower Onyekamu Nwabali, passed away in November 2024, and his mother, Mrs. Grace Nwabali (née Mmai), died just weeks later in January 2025. The double tragedy has deeply affected the 28-year-old, who shared his grief on social media, stating, “About time to put my dad and mom to rest. Something I never imagined doing so soon at this point of my life. Difficult to believe I will never set my eyes on you again. It’s a different kind of pain I never wish for my enemy. Thank you for everything.”

🕊️ Burial Arrangements
The funeral rites for Chief Godspower and Mrs. Grace Nwabali are scheduled to take place in Okwuzi, Egbema, Rivers State, over three days:

Thursday, June 5, 2025: A Service of Songs will be held at 5:00 PM at the late Chief’s residence on Osafu Lane, Okwuzi Egbema.

Friday, June 6, 2025: Mrs. Grace Nwabali’s body will be transported from Gbegbe Hospital Mortuary in Omoku to her father’s compound, and then to her husband’s residence, where she will lie in state starting at 11:00 AM.

Saturday, June 7, 2025: Chief Godspower Nwabali’s remains will be taken from Gbegbe Hospital Mortuary at 9:00 AM and transported to his maternal home. The Okwuzi Council of Chiefs is set to welcome them at 10:00 AM.

⚽ A Year of Triumph and Tragedy
Despite these personal losses, Nwabali has continued to demonstrate resilience in his professional career. He played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s journey to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire, recording five clean sheets during the tournament. His performances have earned him accolades and recognition both nationally and internationally.

The football community, fans, and well-wishers have extended their condolences and support to Nwabali during this challenging time. As he prepares to bid farewell to his parents, many have commended his strength and dedication, both on and off the pitch.
