“Creating New States is Madness” – Rapper N6 Slams Federal Lawmakers

Popular Nigerian rapper and media personality N6 has stirred controversy with his recent criticism of the Nigerian government’s proposal to create additional states. Taking to social media, the outspoken artist described the move as “madness,” calling out lawmakers for prioritizing political expansion over the real issues affecting citizens.

In a blunt Instagram story that quickly went viral, N6 questioned the logic behind the push to increase Nigeria’s current 36 states. “Creating new states in this country right now is absolute madness,” he wrote. “We can’t even manage the ones we already have.”

He further lamented the deteriorating infrastructure, unpaid salaries, insecurity, and widespread poverty in the existing states. According to N6, adding more states would only lead to more political appointments, inflated bureaucracy, and increased government spending, while doing little to improve the average Nigerian’s quality of life.

Public Reactions
N6’s comments have ignited intense debate across social media platforms. While some users hailed him for saying what many were thinking, others accused him of being disrespectful and uninformed about the constitutional process and political motivations behind state creation.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “N6 is spot on. We need accountability, not more governors and commissioners bleeding the system.” Another argued, “New states could lead to better representation. N6 needs to calm down.”

Context Behind the Criticism
N6’s statement comes in response to reports that the Nigerian Senate received proposals for the creation of 23 new states. This sparked concerns among many Nigerians about the cost and practicality of such a move amid economic hardship and security challenges.

Critics, including N6, argue that rather than creating new administrative regions, the government should focus on restructuring the existing system, improving governance, and providing basic services like education, healthcare, and electricity.

A Bold Voice in Politics
This isn’t the first time N6 has spoken out on political and social matters. Known for his no-holds-barred commentary, he has previously criticized poor leadership, corruption, and police brutality in Nigeria. His latest outburst adds to the growing voices of celebrities who are using their platforms to influence political discourse in the country.

As the debate around state creation continues, N6’s remarks have thrown a spotlight on the disconnection many Nigerians feel between the priorities of their leaders and the realities of their daily lives.
