President Tinubu Hosts Pastor Tunde Bakare for Private Talks on National Unity

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, at his private residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. The meeting, held behind closed doors, centered on discussions about national unity and the current state of the nation.

Pastor Bakare, who previously contested the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket in 2023 and has been a vocal critic of certain government policies, described the engagement as forward-looking. He emphasized his lifelong vision of witnessing a functional and prosperous Nigeria.

“My life and personal vision is to see a nation that works in my lifetime. And those things I’ve discussed with Mr. President. They are not hidden things,” Bakare stated. He further noted that while the specifics of their conversation remain confidential, he trusts President Tinubu to act in the nation’s best interest.

The meeting comes weeks after Pastor Bakare publicly criticized the federal government’s handling of the country’s challenges. Despite past differences, both leaders appeared to find common ground in their shared commitment to Nigeria’s progress.

This development underscores the importance of dialogue and collaboration among Nigeria’s leaders and stakeholders in addressing the nation’s pressing issues.
