On Sunday, June 1, 2025, suspected armed herdsmen launched coordinated attacks on communities in Gwer West and Apa Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Benue State.
Gwer West LGA: In Tse-Antswam, Naka town, 17 individuals were killed during an evening assault. The attackers reportedly employed guerrilla tactics, catching residents off guard.
Apa LGA: Simultaneously, the Edikwu Ankpali community was invaded, resulting in at least 25 deaths. Eyewitnesses described the assailants as heavily armed and indiscriminate in their violence.
