As of June 3, 2025, several Nigerian banks, including Access Bank, UBA, Zenith Bank, and GTBank, have announced temporary closures of their branches nationwide. This is in observance of the public holidays declared by the federal government to mark the Eid al-Adha celebrations. Specifically, bank branches will be closed on Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025.

During this period, customers are advised to utilize electronic banking services such as mobile apps, USSD codes, and ATMs for their transactions. These digital channels will remain operational to ensure uninterrupted banking services.

It’s important to note that Access Bank has clarified that it is not closing its branches permanently nor undertaking any mass layoffs. The temporary closures are solely in compliance with the federal government’s directive for the Eid al-Adha public holidays.

Additionally, Access Bank had previously scheduled a system upgrade from October 12 to October 13, 2024, which may have caused temporary service disruptions. However, this upgrade was completed as planned, and all banking services have since been fully restored.

Customers are encouraged to plan their banking activities accordingly and make use of the available electronic channels during the holiday period
