On Thursday, a training aircraft crashed at the Ilorin International Airport, seriously injuring two persons.
In a statement, Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji, Director of Public Affairs and Family Assistance, NSIB, revealed that the incident happened on May 23, 2025, at 17:28 local time, while a simulated instrument approach was being made on Runway 05 at Ilorin International Airport.
According to Oladeji, both of the passengers were hurt when the plane swerved off the runway and came to rest on the grass verge.
The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, or NAMA, arranged for their quick evacuation to a medical facility after both suffered severe injuries, she said.
The NSIB Go-Team is getting ready to leave Abuja for Ilorin in order to carry out on-site investigations in response. The team will secure the site, collect physical evidence, interview witnesses, and retrieve operational data to establish the cause and contributing factors of the incident.”
