At the 35th Convocation of the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo (AFUED), President Bola Tinubu said his administration has taken steps to fix the country’s economy and that his administration is aware of the problems in the country’s universities. “This administration is not oblivious of the predicaments in the universities. The paucity of funds to enhance administrative matters is a general and perennial challenge for most tertiary institutions,” he said, in reference to his pledge to increase funding for federal universities to meet international standards.
Other issues on campuses include deteriorating infrastructure, a lack of personnel, and the rising insecurity of cult fraternities, among others. In order to handle these issues in a decisive manner, we are acting appropriately,” he stated.
He gave Nigerians the assurance that the government’s plans for increased funding had taken into account universities and other postsecondary educational institutions, enabling them to compete effectively on a global scale. According to the president, the government will deal with any new issues that arise in the education colleges that have been promoted to university status.
As a result, Mr. Tinubu encouraged the graduating students to work toward having a significant influence on society.
According to Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the school has improved the nation’s educational system.
Despite the numerous obstacles, the governor praised the university’s administration for achieving accomplishment.
In addition, Samuel Akintunde, the interim vice-chancellor of the FAUED, praised the roles performed by Toyin Falola, the First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, and Victor Kiladejo, the Osemawe of Ondo. He also stated that the institution has not yet received a take-off grant since it was refurbished.
It is important to note that we have not yet received a take-off grant. Up until now, the internally generated revenue had been the only source of success.
“It is crucial to construct two or three faculties and renovate the current buildings to accommodate more faculties. Additionally, the resource centers and labs have not yet been updated,” he stated.
